There's
truth
to the notion that when you dress in
clothing that you love, you feel better and when you feel better, your
overall state of well being is enhanced. During our 90 minute full
sensory healing arts program we call the "Hat Attack™",
we harness the power of dress in a variety
of creative ways to inspire and promote healing in special need
populations.
When you wrap
yourself in a luxurious robe, slide into your favorite pair of jeans or
glide through your day in a great hat, your spirit is nurtured. Remember
how you loved to “dress up” when you were a child? Some of us still do!
The designers at Joie de Vivre recommend that you take a risk, unleash
your creativity and clothe yourself in a way that inspires you.
Joie de Vivre
hosted the first “Hat Attack” at Moses Cone Cancer Center on, May 26th,
2005 and continues to deliver the program today. A sacred space is created
for patients to play with hats and scarves to adorn their beautiful bald
heads. Losing one’s hair can be nearly as devastating as the disease
itself. During the program we introduce products for the scalp to promote
hair growth, make up tricks, head painting (kinda like face painting only
higher) and scarf tying demonstrations. Donated stylish seasonal hats and
scarves are delivered in a comforting, healing, nurturing way similar to a
spa visit. We want to provide not only something beautiful to glorify
their head but a comfortable cozy space to step out of their situation
even if just for a moment. Our programs all focus on the cancer patient
currently dealing with this life altering disease
We applaud the
courage found in each of these women during this challenging period. It is
our hope that our community will embrace and support our efforts that
directly help the cancer patients during the most trying time of cancer,
when the disease is active.
