Imagine, for a moment, a dream...

Time and distance are irrelevant... You are aware that you’re living in the moment yet your dream has transported you to a place not too far away.   The layer of daily life has been peeled away, revealing only the sights and sounds of nature that speak to your soul.   Torch-lit paths guide you through a garden of magnificent splendor as the moon and the stars of the heavens glisten in the indigo sky above.  The stillness of the evening is broken only by the sounds of children delighting in the freshness of the living earth.  The sound of a distant drum marks your cadence while lilting melodies of a harp lighten your step.  Your senses are awakened, yet you are very much at peace.  Nature is hosting a party, and you are the invited guest.

Greensboro ’s first Midsummer Night’s Dream became a reality on June 21st, 2005 as we celebrated the Summer Solstice, the official first day of summer.  The evening celebration  soothed the spirit of those who attended, beckoned all to lighten up and shine on as we paid tribute to Nature and the life she gives.

Amy Brown Fantasy Art©                      The celebration would not be complete without offering something for everyone.  Children delighted in making their own fresh flower leis, while woodland storytellers captured their imaginations as they sat amongst the glen clutching magical light wands.  Greensboro ’s finest massage therapists invited guests to experience the healing power of touch as they offered hand and earlobe massages using natural aromatherapy oils. As you enter the park, face painters stood ready complete with glitter to adorn the guests.  Goddess Nectar flowed, awakening the taste buds with a unique blend of nectarines, lemon, and basil, guaranteed to rejuvenate and refresh even the heaviest of hearts.

Faeries and ribbon dancers, who make prancing a regular way of getting about, rounded out the magical evening.  A very special Butterfly Release will christen the event as the setting sun turns the sky over to the only full moon occurring in June.  We concluded our dream with a candlelight blessing and dancing in the moonlight.

The Solstice celebration is in no way a religious ceremony, nor is it a fundraiser.  In fact, no currency was exchanged on the night of the festival.  Good will and appreciation of nature, beauty and art are the only requirements for those attending, with all funding provided for by private donations.

Those wishing to contribute to a magical and memorable experience planned for the families of Greensboro are encouraged go to here to submit contact info.  We will certainly be in touch!
